Bongs

A bong is a special type of water pipe used for smoking wherein smoke is made to pass through the water and allowed to bubble through the entire chamber. The purpose is to let the burned substance cool and be filtered before it is inhaled into the user’s mouth and lungs. The word “bong” is derived from “baung,” a Thai word that refers to a cut-off section of bamboo to be used as either a wooden tube or pipe, which accounts for the cylindrical design of the bong.

The purpose of the cooling and filtering process that the smoke goes through inside the bong is to form and accumulate a large cooled buffer of smoke which helps lower the occurrence of burns inside the mouth, the air passageways and the lungs. In short, bongs counter this burning which is a normal side effect of cigarette and cigar smoking. This gives bongs a reputation of safety.

The bong user is expected to quickly inhale the cooled smoke but he is not supposed to suck the smoke in, if he does he will surely get a mouthful of bong water. The best thing to do is to leave your lungs open and leave everything to gravity. This very simple procedure has made bongs popular. Bongs are commonly used for smoking Cannabis and sometimes, though less often, with tobacco and other legal highs.
Most bongs are homemade and may range from anything like the simple bucket bong to the extremely elaborate and expensive bongs, such as the custom-made glass types that cost up to £175 each.

Bongs are in great demand because they are made from a great variety of materials and they occur in do many shapes, size and colours. The materials commonly used to make bongs include glass, acrylic or ceramic. In addition, pyrite and even vegetables and fruits are also used. One other very good thing about bongs is that they can be specially designed, personalized and custom made for almost any owner.
